Merkey.Net Civil War

There was a "Civil War" back when I was a n00b at the merkey.net boards when it was just version 2. (now it is Version 3). Here was just a quick rough thing that went over it. You'd have to be there to understand what the heck went on over there, though.

On the Messageboards on V. 3 of Merkey.Net Discussing about the old versions of merkey: (note: I used all their real names in this)

Austin: Well, can you tell me who it was between?
Kenneth : Then main parties were Brandon vs Harmz but there were other issues.
Kevin: Yeah. Let's just say it sucked, and we can move on.
Austin: Ok. But moving on is so hard.
Maggie: I actually want to know who else was the "fighting" with other than Brandon and Harmz....
Spectriplex: THE CIVIL WAR

The Topic:
It all started with a topic. For some unsaid reason, the topic broke out into a fight with Kajet and Echelon. Kajet left, Echelon was crazy. Some people became suspicious of Geneostar because of the topic. One of these persons was Harmzuay, a "highly opinionated" individual. He had been a bit paranoid of the Private Forum, thinikng they were gossiping about other members in there (this wasn't even entirely untrue). Some other members annoyed him, and nearly everybody hated him in the sort of way everyone hates hybrid_alien. He then left. The topic continued into fighting about how the fighting was useless. I made a statement and the topic was locked.

The Chat:
I invited THX and Oli to a chatroom to sort things out. The situation became a little worse. Both of them didn't like Harmzuay. They were saying that he should be IP Banned, and continued with rhetoric of Hitler-like persecution of "n00bs" and the glory of Geneostar. Then they (or maybe I) invited Echelon, and he became even more crazy. Matt came in, and didn't exert any particular stance. I threatened to post a log of the event (it wouldn't look good on their records). Matt was provoked into shutting down the forums. The civil war began.

The Crisis:
I contacted Thibros. Thibros (then an admin) didn't do that much, but commented about the log. The forum was activated again, except 90% of the forum was completely locked, and there was a temporary forum for "while problems were being sorted out. Nobody knew what was going on, but some of the logs were posted. Nobody liked the fighting and some people left. The main sides in the war were The Merkey.Net Community (almost entirely represented by me and thibros) and Geneostar (everyone else who knew what was going on). After a lot of incomprehensable events, propaganda and rhetoric, the war ended in the merkey.net domain being transfered to the new forum, where thibros WAS NOT an admin. Thibros' forums broke down, and the dazed and confused merkey.net members transfered to the new forum, and the event almost seemed like it didn't happen.

The Result:
The forum is now much more general with much less censorship due to the new organization, but a lot of members were lost. The main casualties I could think of (actually lost before the war, mostly):

Also, no one really mentions Geneostar outside the Private Forum. In the private forum, there is a rule that it is specificly for new ideas involving Geneostar.

The true issues of the War are personal things between Brandon, Kajet and Harmz. Some of use now what these are but don't ask because you wont be told.
Brandon: Spec stated it really well. Also, our new stance towards n00bs is reflected in our anger and resentment over the civil war - we don't want new people to gain too much power too quickly. We want them to assimilate into our current membership seamlessly; this is why we are harsh to new people. We don't want another revolution.
Maggie: Agreed the same with Brandon about why we are defensive of n00bs.

This is actually sort of helpful for me (of what Spec just said) to understand what was happening. I knew about Sarah, Harmz and Brandon, but I didn't really read all about the logs and then when Thibros's server with the locked up boards weren't up, I couldn't read it. The good thing is I'm still in contact with the people who've gone, really that's just Michelle and Sarah through instant messaging, e-mails and talking over the phone (which is rare with the phone).

And don't ask of the situation of Harmz, Brandon, and Sarah (Kajet), just don't. -__-;;
Austin: But I'm not new. I was on the old forum. I just left for awhile. And Brandon went crazy? I knew he was weird with the whole "The banana trade between South America and England will be they key for ruling the world" thing, but actually like 'crazy, mad, crazy'? That's hard to believe. I wish I hadn't left.

Whats Geneostar?
Brandon: No, Austin, that was weirdness. An old inside joke between Kevin and I. We had a chatroom about ruling the world loooong ago...

Mina/Roxanne: Wow, you guys really don't like bringing up your past faults, do you?

You're leaving out a rather large half of it, don't know or care what happened between Kajet and Brandon, but I do know pretty much the rest.

You guys hated me, talked about me behind my back(on the private forums), and insulted me. Among other things. For those of you who didn't know, Adam(Harmz) and I were sort of...boyfriend & girlfriend. I was asking him to back me up, but he didn't just do it because I asked him to, he just didn't like some of you guys(don't you feel special?).

Oh, and how did I know you guys were talking behind my back? Spec gave me the passwords. Only went in once, I had seen enough, spam topics(when I always got yelled at for spamming, my lyrics topic was closed, even though it was in the Unchecked Insanity), people talking behind my back. I copied and pasted some of the rude comments from the topics in the private forums to Adam. He told me to reply and stand up for myself, like I normally would, but I wasn't gonna stoop to your level. I left.

Came back a few times to stand up for myself.

There are some other details, like how Kajet and I joined merkey.net because of the same topic, we were both raped, and we both liked Brandon.

So, I was pretty much outcast. Me vs. the forum(Adam and I broke up, we were fighting against each other even)=not good.

Even Maggie, the n00b, at the time, was against me, they told her stuff about me.

And thus is my OH SO WONDERFUL life at merkey.net.

Maggie: Yeah, I remember that. At first I tried to stand up for you, but then I was convinced by Brandon not to go sides with you. Being confused, I just went with the main group. >_<;; Now I know my mistakes of what I did, I was VERY confused as of a n00b. Bleh....
Jordan: yeah, we were all really mean to roxanne for no reason, i remember that, and then my computer wouldn't work when the civil war actually came up :/ but i do know that we were unreasonably mean to her...
